California Dreaming
Moved to California after graduation. Met Glenda and Rolesia, joining the group "Kenyatta's" as a background singer, despite never having sung before. Determined to learn and grow as an artist.
Rising with Rolesia and the Kenyattas
Became stars of their own shows and opening acts for top recording artists across the U.S. Performed at legendary LA venues including The Cover Girl Lounge, The Five Torches, Maverics Flat, and the iconic 54 Ballroom where many legendary artists performed.
Arlene and the Kenyattas
After Rolesia married and left the group, it became "Arlene and the Kenyattas." Continued to perform across the U.S., with interviews at radio stations including James Brown's WRDW in Augusta, Georgia.
Solo Artist & High-Profile Performances
Became a solo artist performing for politicians like Councilman Robert Farell and television executives. Performed for Norman Lear and stars from his shows including "All in the Family" at his mansion.

Multiple Career Paths
While performing, earned licenses in Barbering and Cosmetology. Took over Velvet Barber & Beauty Salon with Rolesia. Worked at The Broadway department store, becoming assistant manager of six departments.
Education & Fashion
Enrolled at LATTC (Los Angeles Trade Technical College) for Fashion Merchandising. Worked in the fashion office, traveling to high schools to give presentations and recruit students.
Retail Leadership & Resilience
Transitioned from The Broadway to Macy's, becoming Co-Chairperson for Baldwin Hills Macy's Star program. Later worked at Neiman Marcus for five years. Faced challenges including apartment fire and homelessness, demonstrating incredible resilience.

Developed unique braiding style, with clients flying from Atlanta and Florida. Became a home health provider and returned to education, earning a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from California State University of Los Angeles.
